The Oklahoma Schools Advisory Council is a service agency for the Oklahoma Education Community.
The Oklahoma Schools Advisory Councill was formed in March,1980, under the Oklahoma Interlocal Cooperative Act. More than forty school districts in the original seven county Eastern Oklahoma Development District region were charter member schools in the creation of the Council.
The primary purpose of OSAC is to identify and facilitate meeting the growing needs of Oklahoma's large education community without duplicating existing services of other agencies and organizations.
OSAC meets this obligation by gathering, assimilating and substantiating the needs of Oklahoma educators through data provided and solicited by the Council members. The Council administration and officers then develop and offer workshops, seminars and research based on these findings.
Oklahoma Schools Advisory Council membership has always been open to Oklahoma organizations or individuals interested in education. Membership currently includes 166 public education school districts, technology centers, colleges and universities.
