The OSAC Para Test Prep has had great success, with a 75% pass rate on the test. We will continue to work with those needing additional help, charging only the testing fee for re-enrollment. For additional information or discuss schedules for training, contact:

OSAC has become a Para Pro test provider and  if offering this full- day training and testing opportunity (half-day of test-prep followed by the half-day test).   See below for Oklahoma Department of Education para-professional requirements.

 Para Information/Requirements 

State and federal qualifications for employees serving as a paraprofessional in public schools exist in both Title I schools and Special Education.
All Paras in these assignments must:

  • Hold an Associates Degree OR
  • Have completed 48 hours of college OR
  • Pass the Oklahoma General Ed Test (OGET) OR
  • Pass the Para Pro Test.

In addition, those providing services to students on an IEP must:

  • Complete the 24 hours of training, Oklahoma Special Education Paraprofessional Training, AND
  • Complete and maintain CPR/1st Aid certification AND
  • Complete training in Universal Precautions or Bloodborne Pathogens annually AND
  • Complete 6 hours of professional development each school year.

**Once all requirements have been met, Special Education Paraprofessional candidates must
work with their school district to complete the application packet and mail it to the Oklahoma
State Department of Education—Special Education Services Department.**
OSAC is able to assist with some of these requirements for districts.

  • Complete 6 hours of PD for paras – OSAC can provide training at various sites, such as a full day training entitled Appropriate & Effective Management of Students with Disabilities.
  • Participation in the Para Pro test – OSAC has become a test provider and will offer a full- day training and testing opportunity (half-day of test-prep followed by the half-day test).
    • There is a non-refundable fee paid to OSAC for the entire day. School POs will be accepted.
    • An unofficial score will be received at the end of the day. Official test results arrive in approximately three weeks.
