Target Audience: 5-8th grade Math Teachers

Agenda 

 

Day 1:  October 25, 2022

8:30-11:30 Multiplication and Division

This session will focus on the progression of multiplication and division. Participants will engage in hands-on activities that promote conceptual understanding and strategies they can use in their classroom.

Take-Home Manipulatives Provided: fraction tiles, pattern blocks

11:30-12:00 Lunch

12:00-3:00 OAS Frameworks–Vocabulary and Verbs

This session will focus on the Oklahoma Academic Standards and the Frameworks. We will explore the terminology and verbs used in the standards to increase our understanding of what is expected of the teacher and students. We will also examine how teachers can use the frameworks to develop lessons and pacing calendars.

 

Day 2:  December 2, 2022

8:30-3:00 All Day Fractions

11:30-12:00 Lunch

This session will focus on the progression of fractions. Participants will engage in hands-on activities that promote conceptual understanding and strategies they can use in their classroom. 

 

Day 3:  January 17, 2023

8:30-11:30 Ratios and Proportions

This session will focus on ratios and proportions. Participants will engage in hands-on activities that promote conceptual understanding and strategies they can use in their classroom.

11:30-12:00 Lunch

12:00-3:00 Differentiated and Tiered Learning

This session will focus on strategies to differentiate instruction. It will also explore tiered learning and how teachers can use it in the classroom.

 

Day 4:  February 3, 2023

8:30-11:30 Integers

This session will focus on integers. Participants will engage in hands-on activities that promote conceptual understanding and strategies they can use in their classroom. 

11:30-12:00 Lunch

12:00-3:00 Problem Solving

This session will focus on problem solving strategies and pitfalls. Participants will participate in activities designed to increase conceptual understanding of problem solving and how to engage students in the process.

$50 per session  added fee for non-members

Cancellation Policy:

Since meals, presenters, training materials, and other costs are pre-paid by OSAC, please provide notice of cancellation at least 4 days prior to any OSAC event you are registered to attend. Your district will not be charged for cancellations made within 4 days of the event. Cancellations within 48 hours of an OSAC event will be charged at half price. No-shows will be charged at full price. Thank you for understanding!
